Iyengar. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. We serve and represent Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. | Board Member Bios
Tonya Garreaud (President) has been practicing Iyengar Yoga since 1989 and has been teaching at the Julie Lawrence Yoga Center in Portland, Oregon since 1999. In addition to teaching her weekly classes at JLYC, Tonya manages the day to day operations of the yoga center. Certified at the Intermediate Junior I level, she is currently working on learning to chant all four padas of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Tonya has served on the IYANW board since 2005 in a variety of capacities—Secretary, Vice President and President. She also heads to Library committee. Marcia Gossard (Vice President) is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance and taught at the Moscow Yoga Center in Moscow, Idaho for 8 years. She plans to continue her training to become a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher. Marcia has served on the IYANW board since 2010. Anne Geil (Secretary) is an Iyengar Yoga teacher and has been teaching at Tree House Iyengar Yoga in Shoreline, WA since 2006. She is certified at the Introductory II level (2009) and is working on the Junior I syllabus as well as building a solid Pranayama practice. Anne has served on the IYANW board since 2011 as Secretary. Karin Brown (Treasurer) is an Iyengar Yoga instructor and a Wellness Coach in Portland,OR. She is certified at the Introductory II level (2011) and plans to pursue the next level of certification (Intermediate Junior I) in a couple of years. Karin has served on the IYANW board as the Treasurer since 2009. She enjoys sailing, hiking, scuba diving, traveling, going to plays,concerts & lectures, and yoga, of course. Denise Weeks (Communications) has been practicing Iyengar Yoga since 2000 and has been teaching at Yoga Northwest in Bellingham, WA since 2005. She is certified at the Introductory II level (2008) and is working on the next syllabus—slowly and patiently. Denise has served on the IYANW board since 2009 and enjoys receiving members’ contributions to our biannual newsletter. Paul Cheek (Membership) has been studying and practicing Yoga since 1990 and teaching since 1999. Certified at the Junior I level and training for higher levels of certification with Senior teachers, Paul is the owner and director of Rushing Water Yoga in Camas, WA. He has been serving the NW Iyengar Yoga community as a board member since 2005 as secretary and membership chair and will do most anything if asked. Angela McKinlay (Grants) is an Iyengar Yoga teacher at Tree House Iyengar Yoga in Shoreline, WA. She is certified at the Introductory II level (2009) and is working on the Junior I syllabus, working toward her goal of someday being a mentor to upcoming Iyengar Yoga teachers. Angela has served on the board since 2010 and enjoys serving and volunteering in the close knit Iyengar Yoga Community. She also enjoys sharing her passion and love for cooking with others at community and studio events. |
